Hydroxyapatite Coated Schanz Screw

These Schanz screws are coated with hydroxyapatite (HA) for enhanced fixation when used with Synthes external fixation systems.  

Indications for Use

Synthes hydroxyapatite-coated Schanz screws are intended for use with an external fixation system for fracture fixation (open or closed); pseudoarthrosis or nonunion of long bones; limb lengthening by epiphyseal or metaphyseal distraction; correction of bony or soft tissue deformity; correction of segmental bony or soft tissue deformity; correction of segmental bony or soft tissue defects; and joint arthrodesis.

Features & Benefits

  • Threads are coated with hydroxyapatite (HA) to enhance fixation at the pin-bone interface and reduce the incidence of pin loosening
  • Commercially pure (CP) titanium or 316L implant quality stainless steel, which are nonmagnetic and do not create heat or deflection in an MR environment
  • Diameters include:  4.0 mm / 3.0 mm, 4.0 mm, 4.5 mm, 5.0 mm, and 6.0 mm and allow independent pin placement
  • Self-drilling or non-self-drilling versions
  • Sterile-packaged
